Press Releases - 2009

Israel-based automatic vehicle location system specialist Pointer Telocation has developed its Cellocator Compact tracking units so they can be integrated with Garmin’s in-car GPS navigation systems, via the Garmin Fleet Management Interface.

The company claims that the integration supports high-end navigation and enhanced communication between fleet managers and their drivers.

Fleet managers can send text messages to the vehicle, which are presented on the screen of the satnav device.

When the manager selects a destination from the list, the control center automatically updates the driver as to his next task. The Garmin unit presents a preferred route, and passes information about estimated time of arrival, as well as other destination details, to the manager.

Israel Ronn, general manager of Cellocator, the product division of Pointer Telocation, says, “Through the integration of our tracking units with the GPS navigation capabilities of Garmin, a leader in the navigation industry, we are continuing to expand our offers to fleet managers around the world. Combining superior location awareness and navigation with enhanced updated communication options, Pointer Telocation is continuing to provide top tracking technology products and services.”

The system will be shown at the CeBIT 2009 conference, which takes place in Hanover, Germany from 3-8 March.
